Michael Beohm found this Pacific Loon on Dec 19, 2002 at Plant Wansley. This is first documented Pacific Loon for GA.

Michael also found another one at Lake Horton in Nov 2003.

I found one at Lake Walter F. George in Nov 2006, which was subsequently relocated by a handful of observers.

Below is one that Michael and I found at Lake Hartwell 12/10/10.

I found 2 to 3 at Lake Hartwell 11/20/11.

I found one at Lake Hartwell 11/07/2012.

I found two at Lake Hartwell 11/15/2012.

I found one at Lake Hartwell 01/26/2013 after a notable absence.

I found one at Lake Hartwell 11/13/2013.

I found three at Lake Hartwell 11/25/2013.

I found one (strong chinstrap) at Lake Hartwell 11/05/2014.

I found another one (weak chinstrap) at Lake Hartwell 12/08/2014.

I found one at Lake Hartwell 01/22/2015.

Pacific Loon

I finally got a chance to get out again.

So, I made an afternoon stop at Lake Hartwell, GA on 11/21/11

where I discovered the following species:

Pacific Loons (2 to 3)

Western-type Red-tailed Hawk (1)

Went back again on the afternoon of 11/25/11 and found the following species:

Pacific Loon (1)

Black Scoter (2)

Eared Grebe (1)

Pacific Loon with wing outstretched.

Note the shape of neck and contrast of dark and white of neck.

Pacific Loon swimming towards me. Note the chin strap.

Another Pacific Loon. Appeared to be three. Two for sure.
