Here are some recent photos of some waders.  It's a nice change being able to get close enough for some decent photos.
All the birds at Lake Horton were reminiscent of a Hitchcock movie.

Above is a Tricolored Heron that I found at Lake Horton, Fayette County, on July 27, 2006.

White Ibis and Snowy Egrets are considered rare in our area (the Piedmont which is the area above the fall line which runs roughly from Columbus to Macon to Augusta.)

Above are 33 White Ibis that I found at Lake Horton in Fayette County (Piedmont) on July 27, 2006.  Also there were two Snowy Egrets.  Below is a Snowy, Little Blue, and White Ibis.

Snowy Egrets made quite a showing in the piedmont this summer at least for me.  I probably found around 15 different ones within about a month.  Oddly, though there were almost no more reports from other birders.

Reddish Egret on Jekyll Island, Oct 2005.

Also, I have had a couple inland sightings of Reddish Egret which is considered very rare inland.

Here is a Great White Heron I found at Lake Lanier.  Though I independently found this bird and was unaware of any other sightings, there may have been other reports of this bird before or after since the area is frequently birded.
I have found GWH a few times in GA.

Above is a Green Heron in WINTER (Jan 2005) I found at Lake Tobesofkee, Macon (Just North of the fall line I believe).  Listed as Accidental for GA in winter.

Snowy Egret (6) at Lake Hartwell.  Some seen just flying over the lake.  They may have been disturbed by all the activity on the lake.  Considered rare for Northeast GA.
